4. full moon
(~All The Love In The World: A Tribute to SoA)
“Come oon Elliott~ Move a little faster or the festival will start without us!”On a straight path out of Clock Town towards Great Bay,
Seyka Leventis dragged her (slow!) husband behind her. She loved his taciturn demeanor and calm approach to everything. But! This night is an exception! This Harvest Moon Festival was promised to be the biggest one yet and Seyka could not afford to miss it! Even the Indigo-Go’s were stated to perform after their long hiatus!
“I am walking as fast as I can, darling,” Elliott Leventis said calmly,
“Better to wear ourselves out in the festival itself than in the journey, am I right?”There he went again with his smooth words. But with several more urgings and whining, they finally arrived at the designated place. One of the most famous beaches of Great Bay.
And predictably, the beach was already swarming with people. The Termina moon-viewing festival was usually a quite affair, with people staying at their homes and enjoying small festivities they made themselves. But this year The Zora society had decided that this day was a particularly auspicious day, and so they spared no effort in making one of the largest festival known yet. A whole section of Great Bay was enclosed with wooden fence and turned into one massive festival ground, with countless stands and vendors and entertainment tents that made even the biting autumn wind warm. A great number of torches and magic fires had been placed in strategic spots all around the area, turning the place as bright as day. In the center stood a big stage that was empty at the moment, but which no doubt would be swarmed by people when the music performance started. Even now the whole area was flooding with people. People from as far as Labrynna and Holodrum visited this highly publicized event, and now their loud chatter and laughter along with hundreds of other crowds replaced the sound of Great Bay waves. The weather was perfect for festivity, too. Bright and warm, with just a little cloud that trailed the moon around.
Around the area there was only one gate to enter. Limited tickets were on sale to prevent overcrowding. And out of the gate hundreds of people had already snaked in line, waiting for their chance to pass through.
One of the people waiting in the line was a woman with a worried look in her face.
‘Where could Shou be?’ Elanor Borde thought to herself,
‘Did he have trouble in obtaining the tickets? He told me to wait first but…”But her worries was not for long. Squeezing himself out of the crowd was a young man holding two tickets. He went straight to Elanor with a smile on his face, panting a little.
“I am sorry I kept you waiting,” Shou Nakamura grinned,
“But I have here our ticket. Hopefully we can enjoy this festival now.”Elanor was also smiling. She hugged him happily,
“But you were gone for so long! I was starting to worry…”Before Shou could answer, however, one of the Ticket Checkers barked.
“Hey you two! No hugging in line!”Grumpy
Shinji Navidan had been forced to work as a Ticket Checker tonight as part of his sentence, and he was not in a good mood. Beside him the other Ticket Checker sighed.
“You can never relax, can you?” Mara Syracuse shook her head, tearing the ticket of a young man and bidding him to enter. By chance she was also a Guardsman, and her other job was to keep an eye on the convict Shinji tonight,
“Well, take it easy. Your attitude's giving me a headache.”But it seemed either Shinji was ignorant or he really was in a foul mood. He barked at another for seemingly trivial reason. Another couple who had just entered the festive compound grumbled.
“Geez, that man’s temper was foul to the extreme,” Alistair Vakarian mumbled after making sure they were out of the Ticket Checker’s hearing range,
“I mean, can’t we have a more cheerful Guard in this festival? It’s ruining the mood.”
“It might be,” Kuoni Haru answered, already eyeing the nearest bread vendor with interest,
“But he must have his reason.”Beside the bread vendor, which was truly in season this autumn, was another stall who was totally out of season.
Nosco L'Urltl confidently flaunted his roasted squids, claiming it’s “secret family recipes” and calling out to the masses in his most sophisticated manner. He was a merchant to the heart.
“Come try the famous L’Urltl roasted squids! Secret family sauce you’ll never find anywhere else! Don’t miss your chance tonight, ladies and gentlemen. It has been proven that L’Urltl roasted squids are not only flavorful, but also very good for your health. Gentleman like you, sir, will feel your vitality pulsing through your veins in no time! And that lady over there, should she taste just a little of our roasted squids, will no doubt see her face shine angelically and be even more beautiful than she is now! Though for me she is beautiful enough already~”
“Hrm? You talkin’ to me?” The lady he was referring to actually turned around. She was a Deku with a hood.
“Whoa, check this out,” @luka exclaimed, picking one stick of roasted squid,
“Roasted squid! You ain’t seein this everyday. What do you think, Ribbit?”Her companion, a much smaller Deku with strawberry-colored hair, twitched his hands in front of his skirt nervously. He had put his plush doll Gero on his head and tied it there all this time. For protection.
“I-I don’t know, L-Luka. M-maybe we sh-should go back n-now? It is v-very crowded here and G-Gero thinks-UWAAAA!”Ribbit screamed as a girl bumped against him so hard he fell on his bottom! Ignoring the yelling of
“Hey You!” from Luka, the girl simply kept running while turning her head around.
“Sorry!” waved
Sokra,
“But I am in a hurry! Really, really sorry! I-Guh!”She had run too fast she had bumped into another! But this time, the one being bumped did not even budge an inch. Aceron Arcanus Vakarian turned around and looked down at the terrified kid, his gaze making her feet trembling.
“Sir Aceron! Are you alright?”Another voice rung. In an instant, two figures appeared out of nowhere and rushed towards the Mayor. They were his personal Guards, the famed Ghosts of Truth. One was a man with a big sword named @lucien. The other was a small girl but no less dangerous,
Arianna Zephrus.
But Aceron waved at them to stop. A few kind words later and Sokra took off, carrying with her a better impression of the Mayor of Clock Town. Aceron watched her bouncing off with fatherly interest.
“Youthful energy is something to envy for,” he shook his head,
“But even it must be reined with self-control. Make sure you never act that rashly, Nador.”His son, who was walking beside him, nodded.
“Yes, Father. I have learned much the importance of keeping my calm.” Nador Vakarian answered confidently.
Aceron nodded.
“Good."“Speaking of, Father, where is Elaine?”“Your sister? Worry not. I have assigned a guard to accompany her.”Nador, somehow felt uneasy, could only nodded in unison. Goddess knows how unrestrained and stubborn his sister can be.
And it was true. On the other part of the beach, a guardswoman dragged her feet, futilely trying to keep up with her escort who seemed to just zip from one place to the next.
“P-please don’t walk too fast Lady Elaine,“ Raisara Naiar pleaded,
“You can be lost in this crowd. Where are you- Ah! Please forgive me!”In her hurry to disentangle herself from the crowd, she had bumped into a broad-shouldered man. The man, a Zora, promptly turned around angrily, but changed when he saw who had bumped him.
“Oh? Aren’t you Raisara from that Naiar?” Ignatius Iakoju opened conversation,
“You’re coming here too?”Raisara had known him as her sister classmate, but no more.
“Good evening, Ignatius.” she bowed,
“I am sorry but I have to hurry. I have to find Lady Elaine Vakarian soon.”“Guard’s duty never end, huh?” Ignatius scratched his head. But then he realized that if she was on duty, perhaps she had come here alone?
“Hey, but even Guards have shifts right? So what about we meet when yours finished? Heard Indigo-go’s gonna play soon.”Raisara was a bit surprised, but smiled nonetheless,
“I’d love to.”“Okay… so…” Iggy’s brain processed the events,
“…near the stage? At 10? North?”“North.” she confirmed,
“I’ll meet you there soon then, Ignatius. But I have to excuse myself now. See you later.”“Just Iggy’s fine!” he shouted, but her back had already disappeared in the crowds. Still not believing that he had successfully asked a girl out for the first time in his life, Iggy’s stuttered on, feeling proud of himself. In his smugness he didn’t even recognize a royalty nearby. Three aristocratic Dekus were crowding near a fountain.
“This is what they called Ice Cream, my lady.” Folus Tarius said, bowing respectfully to his queen,
“I heard they said it is quite delicious.”“That so?” inquired The Deku Queen
Varna Sa Dukuna skeptically,
“What do you think, Serafa?”Her daughter
Serafa sa Dukuna, who had started eating her ice cream the moment she was handled it, gulped her fill first before answering.
“It is really delicious, mother.”The Deku Queen nodded, still somewhat untrusting.
“Guess no harm in trying.” And she was about to taste her first ice cream when she suddenly stopped.
“You…”Someone she knew had suddenly appeared from the crowd.
Josh Dragonsflame turned her head around, seemingly looking for someone, when he noticed the Dekus nearby.
“Oh, honored Queen! And dear Princess! And… Folus, too,” he nodded with a cheeky grin,
“Didn’t expect to see you all coming here.
“By the way, did you see a girl with long silvery hair somewhere around here?"
“Silvery hair is very common.” The Queen said in a clearly mocking tone.
“As is a girl with long hair.” “Yes. Yes.“ Josh nodded absent-mindedly, still searching the crowd.
“Wears a scarf. Boots. Long gloves, usually. I thought I saw- oh there she is!”A silver glimpse in the crowd caught his attention. Hastily, he waved goodbye at the Deku Royals and squeezed his way through the crowds.
But when he arrived at the place the person was not there. Near the carousel were mostly children and their parents, laughing as the glittery thing turned round and round. Scratching his head, Josh came to a hooded figure and tapped her shoulder.
“Excuse me. But did you see a girl with long silvery hair somewhere here? Wears scarf and boots? She is a friend of mine and we’ve lost-”
“A-ah…”But the small hooded girl seemed too afraid to answer. She just stood there, stunned.
“I-I don’t…” she squeaked, in panic.
“We didn’t see anyone.”Then another hooded person, a man it seemed, came towards them and promptly placed one hand on the girl’s shoulder.
“We’ve been here for some time but we didn’t see anyone with silvery hair. I am sorry.”Josh nodded “Alrighty” and resumed his search. The two hooded figures were left alone.
The man started to move.
“Are you alright?”Veriwa Croilith, who had regained her composure, nodded.
“I was…surprised, suddenly facing a Guard. That’s all.Her companion,
Helio Merrows, let out a small chuckle.
“One day we’ll surely learn to control our surprise. But it needs practice.“ he looked around, “
Now to find a place where we can eat our mint ice cream in peace…”But Veriwa remained silent.
Helio turned towards her.
“Is something the matter?”She shifted her eyes.
“I…dropped mine… I was so surprised…”The small shy voice was clearly ashamed of herself. Helio looked at where she had stood before. The cup and all its contents were tumbled on the ground.
But he didn’t let out even a sigh.
“I’ll buy some more then. You wait here. I don’t want to lose you again in the crowd like earlier.”Veriwa looked up
“But It’s quite far. Aren’t you tired?”“Tired?“ Helio, who had started walking, turned his head,
“I get tired because of many things, yes...But never because of you.”
“Oooh~ Such a romantic couple~”Suddenly another voice teased at them, her tone lascivious and sultry.
Rhia was standing just a few feet away, having seen the entire scenario.
“And won’t you two follow with good night kisses? Oh oh, or exchange of romantic poems? Aww my heart’s all aflutter in anticipation~”But the two Hylians wisely ignored her. Giggling to herself, Rhia skipped along in search of new people to play with. Just by being her she had already attracted several gaze.
‘But these people are too easy,’ she pouted,
‘I needed someone more…interesting…Oh!’Sitting alone in a bench, the torch above him making his shadows elongated was
Einar Castellan, apparently waiting for someone.
“My Eiinaaar~” and without any sort of appropriateness she had sit near the boy and wrapped her arm on his, deliberately pressing it against her breasts,
“You’ve been waiting all alone for me? Aww you are so cute~ I’ll never make you wait again, my sunshine.”Understandably, Einar’s face blushed redder than Gerudo’s hair,
“A-ahh R-Rhia? Why are you- No! What are you, I can feel- NO! It’s not that! I-I don’t feel anything!” He flailed his free arms wildly, panicking.
To which the vixen simply giggled and pressed her breasts even more on his arm,
“No? What is it that ‘No’, sweet? Are you saying-““The hell you’re doing?!”The sound of two glass being dropped was heard. Before Rhia or Einar could move, another pair of hands had grabbed Ein’s arm and dragged him away from Rhia.
“I left you alone to get drinks and this is what you’ve been doing?” Jenna Silverblade shrieked, obviously incensed,
“How? Flaunting that innocent, 'I’ve never touched a girl’
looks again? You have some nerve, Einar Castellan.”The fervent and, obviously, panicky apologies from Ein was lost to her ears. She dragged him away through the crowds without stopping. The peculiar sight caught the attention of a blue-haired lady nearby.
‘Is that how land-dwellers treat their lovers?’ Mira thought to herself,
‘Bless Nayru that I have no business with such rude creatures…’Walking on, she continued her observations of the ‘land-dwellers customs.’
‘They certainly likes talking’, she mused. Everywhere she could see them talking in pairs or even alone with the wind. In a rather large area beside the ocean line sat a man with some children around a campfire, apparently explaining something.
“So, in this particular night…” Doronza Gondo pointed at a star in the sky,
“You can see that the Three Harpists constellation is right beside the Hyrule Star. Which, added to the angle we found the Triangle Star and Castle constellation before means this night is an auspicious day for Eli indeed.”His audience, three boys each named
Theophilius Iakoju,
Eli Ryou, and
Sebastien Archibeque were obviously awed by his occult explanation.
“My turn, my turn!” Theo bounced up and down, eager to have his fortune calculated by the Goron astrologer too.
“Hem! Lets see… I was born just six years after-““Watch out!!”Suddenly, Doronza lunged and got the kids away just in time. A cart full of vegetables zoomed past with terrifying speed, just inches away from turning the kids into pancakes. On it was two small girls and two boys, obviously panicking.
“I can’t stop it, Wis!” a black-haired girl named Homadom Hummingheart frantically searched her spell book,
“It is said here that only after the wind spent itself- WATCH OUT! EVERYONE AWAAAAAYYY!!”One of the boys,
Douglas Bountayne, covered his head and his companion’s
Veritti Mainio too
“Ai,” he wailed,
“We’re doomed! Doomed! Shouldn’t ‘ave hitch’ed ride ‘ere I knew it!”
“Keep searching, Dom!” Wisovna Whistlingheart was at the helm, flinging wind spells everywhere in an attempt to control the crazed cart of doom,
“We can- Awaaay! AWAAAYY! Coming thru- watch out- Stay right there kid! Get off the way get OOOFFF!! Nice scarf madam- NO! Don’t just stand there! Move it! MOVE IT!”The enchanted cart blazed across the shoreline, throwing people left and right as it roared its wheels and refused to be stopped. It had started as a harmless prank by
Wis & Dom.
‘It would be fun hitching a ride on the supply cart!’ they thought, and met Douglas and Veritti who had just the same idea. But it turned out to be too slow, and so the twin fairies carelessly conjured a wind spell to roll the wheels faster. Little did they know it would turn to disaster.
And trailing behind the mayhem caused by the wild grocery cart, two people whose supply cart was stolen chased after it, flaunting their weapons and shouted at it to stop. One was
Nexus Dyilan carrying a large knife. The other
Anabella Orin with a really big sword. Apparently, the supply cart contained her father’s supply too. The two of them ran with all their might, while everywhere people screamed and ran in confusion to avoid the merciless cart.
Not everyone was concerned, though. The antics was observed by a certain maid now serving a noodle shop.
Nerina Lif watched Nexus and Anabella zoomed past with a little giggle. For the first time in her life it was not her who caused trouble.
“Here is your noodle, kind madam,” she said, sweeping a graceful curtsy and placing the steaming bowl just perfectly on the consumer’s table.
Terios Anath nodded in silence.
“Our noodles pipping hot, will bring heaven to your spot. Stay and refuse not, this is a taste none dared forgot!”Pleased with herself, she glided back to the front of the shop (without any incidents!). She found her boyfriend Nero standing guard and deep in thought,
“Hey! Why’s the long face? This is such supercalifragilisticexpialidocious night and there you are sulking like Maude!”The Guardsman,
Nero Antony, lifted his head and smiled,
“I don’t know. I still feel uneasy in every festival….
Speaking of Maude... where is she?”“WHO knows?” Nerina huffed,
“One certain thing is that she’s not enjoying anything even at a festival night like this,” she made a cute two-hand gesture.
“Guaranteed.”Nero laughed, and the wind bore his laughter up even to the tall Clock Tower, looming far away in Clock Town.
Perched on that dark and cold place, surprisingly, were two people.
“So this is your idea of a 'nice place with excellent view’ “ Maude Lif tightened her scarf, obviously shivering from the biting wind,
“Why am I not surprised? …Incredible. Just…the perfect place I’d like to spend in one cold, windy, autumn night.”Her companion was not slightly taken aback with her grumpy remarks,
“But this offers excellent view, no doubt.” Axel Heartnet retorted,
“Besides, we’re doing this guy a favor by keeping him company.”He pointed towards the inner side of the Clock Tower. There
Lucas Triton was diligently repairing the Clock mechanism, it having chosen the most unfortunate time to break down.
Predictably, Maude was about to explode, but Axel stopped her.
“Oh look. I can see that yellow fox down there.”The Sheikah’s sight was sharp indeed. Sneaking around the festival ground was a peculiar fox with bright yellow fur.
Lance sniffed around the tables, and, seeing an opportunity, stole a bag of steamed beans from
Diarmait dor Goronda. He quickly hightailed out of there, passing harmlessly through two scholars deep in conversation.
“I cannot say I agree, Charles,” Wyatt Hudson nodded.
“The Full-Moon Festival, or as it is later known, The Harvest Moon, has been around since the first Goron-Zora Wars. It was stated clearly in one of the entries…”His partner,
Charles Antony, touched his chin with his hand,
“But, Wyatt, the source is doubtful. In a similar but different version by a Goron there was no mention of the festival yet…”After some time they still could not find a solution. So, they both agreed to head to the Clock Town Public Library and settled their differences through credible sources there. The two promptly started moving, chattering all the way.
Amizingly, the Library was kept open during the grand festival. After squeezing their way out of the festival grounds, they finally found the comforting sight of the Library. They both knew that this was a place they would rather spend a night in rather than the noisy festival ground.
Charles stepped in first,
“Still open, Miss Cordelia?” he greeted the book-keeper warmly,
“I am surprised that festival has no effect on library’s opening hours at all.”
“Whenever one needs knowledge they should find it.” Ariadne Cordelia answered curtly, motioning them to keep their voice down. Two other person,
Ariadne Syphos and @majorasmaskftw were reading some books. The last mentioned was deeply engrossed in The Short History of Clock Town.
Nodding, the two scholars headed to the section on the far back of the building. The scariest section, who held the thickest of books and the most unintelligible of characters. The two scholars soon found themselves at home.
But just behind the library, another person clearly did not feel at home at all.
Selene Merrows groaned inwardly.
“Please, Helba. Must it really be done this night? There is a great festival going on…”Beside her, a blue-dressed fairy was waving her glowing stick around, fixing any little inconsistencies she found in the Hylian’s stance.
“What are you saying, Heroine?” Helba Charlemange answered, as calm and composed as always,
“Tonight is the best night to master your new water spell. I am sorry to say, but your progress has been sorely lacking.
Now. Maintain your focus and try the spell once more.”Selene understood her role perfectly. But it was at night like these that she hoped her responsibility should have been shouldered by someone else. Shaking that that sad thought quickly, she waved her hand and concentrated,
really concentrated, on making an icicle shoot forth.
And an icicle did shoot forth. But too fast. It arched upward to the night sky and disappeared.
“I am so sorry!” was her cry.
Fortunately, the icicle had been had all been melted when it finally landed, far away in the festival grounds. Poor
Caius Mortera suddenly felt his head chillingly wet.
“What the-“ he turned around and quickly wiped his hair,
“Ice?”“Are you alright?”A sweet voice called out to him.
Aelis Lamber kindly offered him her napkin, looking worried after seeing a small icicle hit the farmboy right on his head.
Caius blushed,
“Ah, I am alright, miss. Nothing’s broken, nothing’s broken-“But the next instant another hand wiped the icicle off his head. A cold, mature hand. Caius wheeled around to find a black-haired woman had already picked the icicle.
“Magic…” Rosalyn Darklight examined the small cold thing on her hand,
“Fairy magic…” And the next instant the icicle disappeared in a puff of purple flame.
Caius was not impressed.
“Magic, huh? I suppose you’d say you can feel magic everywhere right now, too?”“Yes…” the witch nodded slowly. Then she pointed at one of the flames,
“Magic…” then to the moon,
“Magic…” and then to a red-haired girl passing through.
“And that…” she smiled,
“Terribly strong magic.”Of course, other than Caius and Aelis the red-haired girl had no clue she was being pointed at. Holding two boxes of steamed dumplings, she looked around for her companion. She found him half-hidden behind one of the stalls. Sulking. Poisonous as always.
“Why do people like crowds?” Nexus S'Urltl muttered to himself,
“Clingy souls, who can only find solace in the company of the like-minded. They smiled when there was nothing to smile at. Laughed when they actually wanted to jeer. Talked when they had nothing to say…”“Alright, alright. Cheer up a little, fishstick.” Farrah Abad, the red-haired girl from earlier, had sneaked behind Nex. She offered him one of the boxes.
“Look, even one who has been sealed for hundreds of years like me found this night fun. You should be ashamed of yourself~”“Sealed for hundreds of years, hmm?” Nexus scoffed, but took the box nonetheless,
“But, my dear wild cat, you are quite…peculiar. Wonder what your kind would do given the same night?”
“They’ll be having fun.” Farrah said nonchalantly. She had begun eating the dumplings,
“That’s what us Gerudo are good with.”And she was entirely right. Not far from where they enjoyed their double solace, another Gerudo reveled in attention. It was one of the tent which offered a game of knive-throwing, with particularly hard conditions. But from the many crowds that were gathering and cheered around there it seemed that one person had floored the entire challenge.
A swish. Another knife hit the target and the bell rang once more.
“Fu*k yeah!” shouted
claudia vesta triumphantly. She turned around and addressed the cheering crowds, obviously enjoying the attention. The people roared in appreciation.
“You’re awesome, miss!” Evie Galie shouted from the crowds.
“Now now, we have a clear winner here,” said the tent owner.
Faust, who had opened the tent with challenges in his mind gave a heartfelt applause.
“But this is nothing. The next challenge will be even harder!”Undeterred, Claudia slammed another sack of rupees on the table.
“Bring all the sh*t you got, man.” She declared to the delight of the crowd,
“I ain’t gonna boast, but I’m gonna clear ‘em all like a boss! A f*cking boss!”The crowds cheered.
“But these knives are very high quality...” One of the onlookers, the blacksmith
Kaiden Ironcloud, reached out for one of the knives and examined it with interest. He recognized the tell-tale pattern.
“Of course.” He sighed,
“Kamahra Torros herself made these.”By chance, the woman mentioned, The Legendary Blacksmith
Kamahra Torros was also attending the festival. Somewhere on the other side of the festival grounds The Goron felt her ears itched as she waited in line for some sweets.
‘Is someone’s talking about me?’ she mused to herself. But looking around the sweet vendor, she saw no one she knew personally.
Then she caught sight of two blades on the back of a helmeted Rito,
‘Nice blades.’ And she went away.
The Rito seen by her also went away. His name was
Jedah Argohst Del Gryphilargo and he was apparently a knight, by his regal demanour. Tonight he was on a special duty: to bring two pack of sweets to his princess.
He found her waiting on a bench near the seashore, gazing to the blackened sea.
“Please accept these, Princess Leda,” the Rito bowed respectfully,
“It is the most expensive sweets sold here."“Thanks.” The Rito Princess
Leda Cast de'Roc said without shifting her eyes from the sea. The Rito knight bowed respectfully again and asked her permission to continue guarding the periphery. But to his surprise, the Princess did not allow it.
“No. Stay.”The knight raised his eyebrows.
“Princess?”The Princess did not look at him.
“I want you to sit with me tonight and enjoy the sea together...” Her voice faltered a little,
“…Is that too much to ask?”Understanding her intention, The Rito Knight gave a small smile.
“As you wish… Leda.” Then he proceeded to sit beside the princess, who still stubbornly refused to look at him.
But she was obviously happy.
Moments later, she called for another of her attendants.
“Sarah,” she said to her lady-in-waiting,
“Take these rupees and bring us some drinks. You go refresh yourself too.”Sarah Thunderbird bowed respectfully,
“At once, my lady.”Scurrying along to the festival grounds, the young Rito vowed to do her duty perfectly. But alas, she was lost! Soon she was forced to ask a scary-looking guardsman for direction.
“The lemonade stand?” Hadrian Ritter scratched his head,
“I have no idea, ma’am. Maybe you can-”“The Lemonade stand?”A friendly voice suddenly joined the conversation. Out from the crowds walked a kind-faced Deku.
“I am going there, too.” Dominique Rousseau said politely to the girl,
“If you want, you can come with me and I’ll show you the way.”The gentle gesture was much appreciated by the petite Rito. She thanked him fervently and gladly went away with him. This heart-warming sight was observed by another pair of eyes, much more confident than the Rito girl’s.
“Ooh~ Isn’t that boy just absolutely adorable?” Obsidian Sulan whispered, clinging tightly onto the arm of her latest conquest. The man she was holding was named
Rashida Lineman, and he could not lift his eyes even for a moment from the bewitching lady.
“Y-yes. Whatever you say, sweetness. Maybe we can –uh- adopt him or something?” He mumbled randomly, obviously drunk by the beauty of his companion. Sweetly Obsidian giggled, and together they walked through some performers in the midst of their act. The pair, drunk by physical allure, did not even recognize the marvelous dancing performed there by
Kyrie Renner.
But many other eyes gave the splendid dance its due recognition.
“Bravo!” shouted
Preyer Andarian, one of the onlookers who had stopped by. He, like many others, threw their coins in appreciation of the enchanting dancer.
“Grace us with your dance once again, O sweet heart-mover!”“So. That’s your kind of girl. At last the mystery is solved.”A sudden chill gripped his heart. Preyer turned around to find his friend
Cassandra Amell standing beside him, her face cold as always. And right now, particularly chilling.
“No, no, Cass,” Preyer started, moving towards her,
“I had meant-““Short-hair? Auburn?” Cassandra flicked her hair in that obvious gesture of
‘whatever you say’, “The last time it was long and black. What? You will tell me next that you like ponytail in red?” she pointed to a lady who was walking away,
“Like that lady over there?”Incidentally, the woman she had pointed at was no mere lady.
Thalia Andesite might be one of the fairer Gorons, but in her heart she was still that fearsome Shield of Snowhead, the Hero of The Goron People. At the moment she was looking for Big Brother, the Leader of All Gorons to report one her findings about the Zora activity in Great Bay.
Halfway she met
Allen Cross instead.
“Yo, Allen. Have you seen Brother Darunlazt around?”“Big Brother, huh?” Allen turned around,
“Can’t say I’ve seen him. Though his would be rather easy to see.”At the moment, an unexpected person came around.
“Oh, you mean a really big, boisterous Goron in black armor?” @crystal had joined the conversation,
“Saw him somewhere there.” She pointed at a rather open area of the festival, where several rows of tables and chairs were lined up for people who wished to eat and socialize.
And there, sure enough, was Big Brother. Apparently
Darunlazt dor Goronda had met some drinking buddies and was talking loudly with them.
Rinley Abernathy was there. As well as
Sachs Throh and the warrior
Kairon Sendos. On a table nearby
Astra Yusra and @sybil eyed the little circle with interest.
“And so!” Darunlazt continued, “
Me found that bastard behind the barn, crying like a baby!” His companions laughed,
“Me tell you me didn’t spare any rocks. Me beat ‘im up like this and this.“ And he made a violent gesture with his fists, pounding them together.
Slightly drunk, Rinley raised her glass,
“Three cheers for Darunlazt, the Grandpa of Bomber Gangs!!”In unison the small circle raised their glasses and gulped them at the same time. More laughter was heard when
Emmett Renibus joined the fray with his own drink. The merriment would continue until morning were not for a distinctive guitar intro resounding from the stage.
“Din be blessed!” Darunlazt shot up, looking towards the stage,
“It has been years since them played that track. Them original best: All The Love In The World!”And if even Darunlazt, a one-time fan of Indigo-Go knew the hit song by heart, it would be even more so with the general populace, who had still faithfully bought their records even after they shifted their music to more synth-jazz. Waves and waves of people rushed to the stage as soon as they heard the famous intro, cheering and yelling with praise at their idols who had just mounted the stage.
One by one, the worshippers chanted the names of the gods of music as they each wave their hand in turn. First
Killian Malloy raised his fingers in their signature ‘Indigo-GO!’ sign, drawing the cheer of the crowds. Next
Calypso La'Vell flaunted her bass to the wild shouting of the whole festival area. Then
Milrael Il'tak commanded hysterical scream from the girls, and
Eoin Iott even more so. The last blew out a kiss after a showy performance with his piano, causing at least a dozen of her female fans to faint.
And last but not least,
Lyndis Aoide herself took the stage amidst frenzied shouts and incredible uproar. She assumed command of all the attention immediately, the frontwoman of the most famous band in Termina History. The crowd was practically exploding by now.
Behind the stage, two special effects technicians also could not contain their excitement. Well, one of them to be exact.
“Isn’t this festive aura is just wonderful?” Sarah Blossomheart chirped in delight,
“You don’t see this kind of energy every day! Oooh I can almost feel the magic. The magic! All the emotions and love swirling in the air as we speak! I believe that is in days like this that The Goddess would-““Quiet, Sarah,” her sister
Fionnghuala waved her hand impatiently. She was not particularly happy being handed a background job. Fionn was the life of parties everywhere. She should have been right there in front of the stage instead of the back!
Sarah, as dense as she was, still caught the disgruntled tone of her sister,
“What’s the matter, Fi? Aren’t you enjoying helping the festival?”“Enjoying this?” Fionnghuala snorted,
“I’d rather babysit Wis & Dom for a week than being stuck behind the stage.” She looked at the black curtains enclosing them with disdain.
Sarah was wide-eyed with surprise,
“You aren’t serious!”“Of course not. Each time they came around my lifespan’s cut by half. I don’t fancy dying young, thank you very much.”Giggling, Sarah ignored her sister when she heard the signal to start the fireworks. Wis & Dom were clearly a handful, but none of their sisters actually had the heart to really hate them. Fionnghuala sighed and resigned to her fate tonight.
In front of the stage, the crowd was lively with anticipation.
“I thank you for all our friends for their coming here tonight,” Lyndis Aoide started, her voice magically made louder by the fairy’s magic,
“On behalf of The Indigo-Go, I thank you all.”And she and her bandmates gave their signature bow to the extreme delight of the people.
“I know we haven’t met for some time,“ Lyndis continued, moving to the other edge of the stage. Her voice was trailing with fairy-made echoes.
“For that we are really sorry…And tonight, we want to express our apology. We want to show you all how we still care about our friends. We want to give everyone here the best of us…” As if on cue, the noise was raised several octaves,
“We want to give you… All The Love In The World !”The whole Termina shook as the crowds lose themselves in wild excitement. Grinning widely, Milrael stepped forward and started strumming the intro. Behind him Killian beat his drum. Eoin and Calypso readied their part. And in perfect harmony, Lyndis Aoide swung her body with the melody and, smiling, let loose the first lines of their hit song:
"I'm not looking for someone to talk to,
I've got my friends, I'm more than O.K…
I've got more than a girl could wish for,
I live my dreams but it's not all they say…"
The frontwoman was the life of the performance! She edged closer to the cheering crowd as the bridge came in. Every single one of the spectators followed her cue.
"Still I believe… (‘I'm missing,’ shouted the crowds) I'm missing something real…
I need someone who really sees me...”
The tension build up for the chorus as everyone sang alongside Lyndis! The chorus would resounded throughout the Great Bay and shook the stars….
"Don't wanna wake up alone anymore...
Still believing you'll walk through my door.
All I need is to know it's for sure,
Then I'll give......"
And Lyndis held her hands wide open to the crowds.
“What will we give?” to which the resounding answer:
“All The Love In The World!”
The applause following was deafening. Triumphantly, Lyndis returned to her place and resumed the next part song. Each of the Indigo-Go, each of them, was giving their all.
"I've often wondered if love's an illusion,
Just to get you through the loneliest days…
I can't criticize it, I have no hesitation,
My imagination just stole me away…
Still I believe…
(I'm missing) I'm missing something real,
I need someone who really sees me...
(Don't wanna wake...) Don't wanna wake up alone anymore,
Still believing you'll walk through my door…
All I need is to know it's for sure,
Then I'll give... … ….
All the love in the world."
Several distance away from the Festival Grounds, in a fortress enclosed by the ocean, several people watched the performance from afar. The wind rose from the beach up to this desolate peace, bringing with it the cheerful voices of the crowd. But here on The Pirate’s Fortress, everything was dark and forbidding. The sound of the waves crashing on the barren cliffs filled the air.
But it did not stop the inhabitants to enjoy the music.
“All the love in the world, huh?” Emara Eral mused out loud, then proceeded to kiss her husband full in the mouth,
“I am lucky I know whom I shall give it too.”Her husband, the dreaded
Brohntic Eral, received the kiss and hugged her tight. Nearby,
Elsa & Lesa Kyutao averted their sight.
“Indeed. This is not a night of mischief,” said another figure.
Silva Hellwind had come on top of the fortress too,
“Even I can feel the positive emanation in this night…”…Kenzan. Reis.”Without shifting his gaze from the glowing lights of the festival, he called to his two liutenants.
Kenzan Yamamoto and
Reis du Ayioyu were standing behind their king all this time.
“Sir.”
“Hm?”“I want you both to go back to Ikana this instant,” Silva continued,
“Tell my people…to rest tonight.”Bowing, both skeletal liutenants stepped back and took their leave. On their way to the stairs going down, they met another figure, gazing up to the moon. Shivering slightly, Kenzan and Reis tried their best not to disturb him while they continued their way.
For the figure was none other than
Roger Brock, the Majora’s Mask himself. He stood alone on the precipice of the fortress, endless sea below him and the vast night sky above. In the center of the sky was glowing in rounded orb; the Full Moon shone in all its majesty. It was to it that Roger stared long and hard, seemingly entranced by its beauty….
“All the love in the world…” he whispered.
Below him, the waves broke against the cliffs and retreated back to the sea. The Harvest Moon festival continued on.
